The Holiday Port Festival  is a free, family-friendly event held December 7, 8, 9, 2012, at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal. [MAP]

This is the Port’s signature event for the community and includes:

  • Art activities with Allied Arts teaching artists
  • Fire truck and horse-drawn wagon rides
  • Free cookies and hot apple cider
  • Free performances by local choirs, bands, and dancers
  • Gingerbread house display
  • Visit with Santa and Mrs Claus.
  • Gingerbread House Contest, 2008Food drive to benefit the Bellingham Food Bank (non-perishable food items)
  • 6:15 – 7:20pm, Friday and Saturday only.    Lighted boat parade put on by the Bellingham Yacht Club. The boat parade route goes from Squalicum Harbor to the Bellingham Cruise Terminal. Times listed are estimates only. On Friday, boats will leave Squalicum Harbor at 6pm, and can not pass by the terminal until after the Alaska Ferry has departed. Bad weather will cancel the boat parade.

Over the next couple of months visitors to Simplify Christmas (yes, visits have remained consistently high, even through the spring and summer months of 2008) will notice some fairly dramatic changes in the organization and appearance of the site as I prepare for the official start-up date of November 1st. The first big change is this new theme – which will be modified as needed before the official start-up. Update: 09/27/2208: I’ve decided to stick with last year’s theme – better features, overall.

Do not be alarmed by the changes – Christmas 2007 is past, and Simplify Xmas 2008 is going to be even bigger and better than last year!

  • Mrs. ClausWhat: Experience the enchantment of the season at Country Village Shops! Children will love sampling a free fresh baked cookie with Mrs. Claus or riding on Santa’s “reindeer” from noon to 3:00pm both Saturday and Sunday. They will also enjoy train rides that will take them around the Village. Each building is outlined in twinkling white lights with many large light displays to delight children of all ages.

  • When: Friday, Dec. 7, 6:00-7:30 PM
  • What: The Burlington Chamber of Commerce’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Arrival of Santa Claus festival at Alpha Park. Santa will arrive at 6 p.m. aboard a Burlington fire engine. Mayor Tjeerdsma and Santa will light the tree and then head to the Burlington Chamber Hall for hot cider, cookies, free kids’ activities and pictures with Santa.
