The Holiday Port Festival  is a free, family-friendly event held December 7, 8, 9, 2012, at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal. [MAP]

This is the Port’s signature event for the community and includes:

  • Art activities with Allied Arts teaching artists
  • Fire truck and horse-drawn wagon rides
  • Free cookies and hot apple cider
  • Free performances by local choirs, bands, and dancers
  • Gingerbread house display
  • Visit with Santa and Mrs Claus.
  • Gingerbread House Contest, 2008Food drive to benefit the Bellingham Food Bank (non-perishable food items)
  • 6:15 – 7:20pm, Friday and Saturday only.    Lighted boat parade put on by the Bellingham Yacht Club. The boat parade route goes from Squalicum Harbor to the Bellingham Cruise Terminal. Times listed are estimates only. On Friday, boats will leave Squalicum Harbor at 6pm, and can not pass by the terminal until after the Alaska Ferry has departed. Bad weather will cancel the boat parade.

There’s a great turnout for this contest every year, and some awesome creativity to admire. The port festival runs today at the Alaska Ferry Terminal, from 11:00am-5:00pm, so there’s still an opportunity to go and  have a look for yourselves!

Christmas Piggies @ Pike Place MarketEven the piggies get dressed up for Christmas at Pike Place Public Market

  • What: Beginning @ 12:00pm, Santa will be by the Market’s vintage truck. Come by and take your own photos of your family with Santa. In the afternoon there will be a Food drive for the Pike Market Senior Center. Contribute 5 cans of food and receive a free reusable Market shopping bag (one bag per person, available for the first 100 who donate). PLUS:  Kid’s crafts –  The third level, “Downunder,” will celebrate the day with “Deck the DownUnder,” as they decorate their storefronts and welcome the season – The Seattle Chamber Brass Quintet takes the stage from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. – The grand finale is the annual lighting ceremony at 5:00 p.m. A large tree will be lit on Pike Place, as well as lights on the Market’s buildings.
